It's a been a while since we've done a newsletter so we wanted to touch base with our customers before the holiday season gets into full swing.
Thanks for a Great Server Move and Upgrade!
We would like to thank all of our customers for their assistance and patience during the upgrade of our servers and the move to the co-location facility in Santa Rosa. The move was very successful and the new servers are performing flawlessly in their new environment. Our thanks to all of customers for their help and patience during the process of the server move.
Shopping Local and On Line: Please keep in mind that many local merchants, in addition to their storefronts, also have an on line presence. Many of those sites are hosted here at MCN and offer a great way to explore holiday gift ideas from local merchants.
Holiday Security Guidelines: Brian Krebs at the Washington Post is one of the best writers in the country on security issues. He was recently named a "Cybercrime Hero" by Cisco System. His blog at voices.washingtonpost.com/securityfix is worth following for those who are interested in security issues. He recently posted an article titled "Eight Tips for Safe On Line Shopping" (click on link to view article).
New MCN Web Page: We recently updated the MCN website at www.mcn.org to a newer version of the Joomla content management system. We updated the template which gives the site a slightly different appearance. We're still tweaking a few things but hope that you enjoy the new site.
Weather Information: During severe weather, we put a news item on our home page with current information and links to NWS alerts and information as well as .We also post links to CalTrans road information and weather cams as well as local radio stations. During regular weather, this information is available on the "Emergency Services" link at the bottom of our home page. One of the benefits of the new website is that we were able to get our National Weather Service forecast module working again. You can find it under the Weather menu.
MCN Billing Site: Need a copy of an invoice or a receipt for payment? Want to see how much dialup time you've used? You can find these items and other information at the MCN billing website at billing.mcn.org
Holiday Hours: MCN is open during our normal business hours of Monday-Friday 9 AM to 6 PM through the holidays with the following exceptions:
Christmas Eve 9 AM to 1 PM | Closed Christmas Days
New Year's Eve 9 AM to 1 PM | Closed New Year's Day.
We wish everyone a happy holiday season. Right after the new year begins we'll have some exciting new products and upgrades to existing products so keep an eye on the MCN home page at www.mcn.org and look for some exciting news in January.
