Horse Expo 2008, FHANA and CCFC members, Created a really nice showing of the Friesians This year, only two horses were there to represented the breed, "Harold VR" the Friesian Stallion chosen at the CCFC breed inspection last year for Central proving and owned by CCFC member Jackie Basagoitia. And "Belinda Z" a Friesian Mare owned by CCFC member and Expo booth organizer Terrie Douglas. Both horses proved themselves to be excellent breed ambassadors. Harold with his vast presence, had people with cameras falling over themselves to grab photos and Belinda with her love of the crowd and quiet domineer, stood quietly tied out of her stall while crowds of people swarmed her to offer pets. Thank you to all the volunteers, those that worked set up and tear down, and those who spent a few hours sitting in the booth answering questions.

Dr. Genevieve de Montremare In LOVING MEMORY 1967-2007 FHANA, CCFC Member and IFSHA's Founding Director: Dr. Genevieve de Montremare who was battling a long illness fell into a coma and soon after passed away. She is survived by her husband and daughter. Genevieve was the owner of Belle Reve / Honor Bright Farms She was on of the first breeders to import several stallion and offer them for breeding to the US, these stallions were: Anne, Melle, Bonne, Wicher and YK. Genevieve was a kind person and very generous with her time and help. I considered her a friend and hope she is in peace. Her Family need time to morn her passes and so this information is belatedly released. The family would like her to be honored but does not want to receive letters, emails etc.
Here is some information posted on IFSHA: In the desire to honor Dr. Genevieve de Montremare for her contributions, deeds and dedication to the Friesian Horse, The International Friesian Show Horse Association has declared that the 2008 IFSHA Friesian World and Grand National Championship Horse Show will be operated as the Genevieve de Montremare Memorial. At this show, the re-fashioned Founders trophy, the now "Genevieve de Montremare Memorial Trophy" will be unveiled, and presented annually thereafter so that her courage, efforts and deeds will never be forgotten, while hopefully inspiring others to follow in her foot steps. For those of you whom knew Genevieve and would like to express your feelings, IFSHA has created an e-mail address to accept these communications. These communications will be collected and printed in the Genevieve de Montremare Memorial Program to be distributed during the Memorial show, the e-mail address is Genevieve@friesianshowhorse.com
