Here is an excerpt from our original By-Laws stating our purpose:
To assess the ongoing local civic needs of the Comptche
Community area, and
develop a strategy to encourage the solutions to these needs
To Provide the organizational means and funding oversight
to bring these soulutions to reality.
Specific purposes for which this corporation is organized
include the following:
To provide a gathering place(s) in Comptche including a
park, picnic area, restrooms, playground and outdoor amphitheater;
To provide a community town hall/performing arts center
including a commercial kitchen, meeting/seminar rooms, stage and auditorium
for the promotion of the arts;
To sponsor special education classes, lectures and seminars
involving the general public, community , seniors/children and other
special intrest groups;
To directly engage in and provide facilities in the support
of the Comptche Volunteer Fire Dept., Inc., (CVFD) a nonprofit public
benifit corporation;
To provide a gathering place(s) for the community members
and people from the souronding area to meet and socialize at public
or private parties;
To annually assess community inputs to ensure a sense of
ownership and responsiibility generally.
Plan Summary
The Comptche Community Organization, Inc., (CCO) intends
to operate a not-for-profit rental of the Comptche Community Hall
(commonly know as The Grange Hall) for community events and celebrations,
as long as operational.
The CCO will need to raise moneys to cover all monthly
expenses ( 250 month) from renting the facility.
The CCO will raise funds to upgrade/remodel the building
to make it more functional as the community needs change.
The CCO will provide One-Day Beer and Wine License for
building fundraisers, but not available for private parties.
The CCO will work with local architect, Paul Douglas, on
the redesign of the facility.
The Community Hall availability will be advertise in newspapers,
on the CCO Web Page, Mendocino Coast Chamber of Commerce, Matt Rowland
Productions, and Mass Mailing to Businesses in the area with fee schedule.
Existing Grange Funds and will match with 25 to 50 family
$1000 matches to raise interest and volunteers for the CCO Hall.
The CCO will create a Donor Card for receipt of money,
time or craftsmanship with acknowledgement.
Make a Major Contributor list of tasks requesting monies
and designate percentage of gift to distribute to each project. Grants
will be applied for to cover mador remodel items.
Off the top estimate should be $100,000.
