About RCHS

The Redwood Coast Humane Society (RCHS) was founded and *incorporporated in 2000 by a group of Mendocino and Sonoma county residents who set these goals for the organization:

To provide temporary foster care for unwanted pets that have been surrendered, abandoned, or rescued, and to actively pursue finding permanent homes for them

To help reduce dog and cat overpopulation by encouraging and providing financial assistance for spay/neuter services

To act as a clearinghouse for a variety of pet-related issues, including lost and found, feral cat management, referrals, and counseling

To sponsor educational workshops and special events that promote responsible pet ownership

To provide training and support for volunteers and foster caregivers

To organize fundraising activities that support the above endeavors.

RCHS is governed by a Board of Directors made up of seven volunteer members.  For more information about the Board (members, meetings, etc.) please click here.

RCHS employs no paid staff or consultant firms.  Everything is done by committees of our wonderful volunteers as individuals or working together in several committees.   For the names of the committee chairs please click here.
