Windows Mail Instructions for Changing the Settings re:

-- Outgoing Mail Server Port Number
-- Password Authentication
-- Leaving Copies of Mail on the Server
-- Secure Email

1) Double click on the Windows Mail icon.


2) In the menu across the top of the window click on TOOLS
3) In the dropdown menu choose ACCOUNTS


4) An "Internet Accounts" window opens.

5) Under the "Mail" heading click once on your account name (i.e. Testy Account) to select it.

Then click on the PROPERTIES button to the right


6) Click on the SERVERS Tab


7) At the bottom of the screen CHECK the box before "My server requires authentication"


8) Click on the SETTINGS button

9) There should be a dot next to "Use same settings as my incoming mail server"

10) Click on the "OK" button in that window. And click "OK" in the next window.

11) To change your Outgoing Mail Server port number:

----- Click on the Advanced tab (at the top of the Properties window)

    
----- Delete the number to the right of the "Outgoing mail (SMTP):"

----- Type in that field 587
    

----- Click the APPLY button in the bottom right

12) For Secure Email:
----- Still on the Advanced tab see screenshot below
----- Under "Outgoing mail (SMTP)":
----- Check "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)"
----------The outgoing mail port should stay at 587
----- Under "Incoming mail (POP3)":
----- Check "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)"
----------The Incoming mail port should change to 995
----- Click the APPLY button in the bottom right



13) To change the settings for Holding Mail on the Server:
----- Be in your accounts Properties window (Tools >> Accounts... >> Select email account >> Click on Properties button)
----- Click on the Advanced tabsee screenshot above
----- At the bottom of the window under "Delivery"
----- Check "Leave a copy of messages on server"
---------Check "Remove from server after" and type in number of day(s) (Best to keep it under 14 days)
----- If you DON'T want to hold copies of your mail on the server then DON'T check "Leave a copy of messages on server"
----- Click the Apply button at the bottom right of the window

Click the OK button below
