A Journey Through the Solar System: Uses many NASA resources to have students create a slide show using ClarisWorks to show their knowledge of the Solar System.

American History: A fifth grade unit involving the creation of Hypertext Mark-Up Language pages for Mosaic based on students inquiries in Revolutionary War Era history.

Birds: First and second graders use the Internet to study birds using resources on the Internet and e-mail with experts studying birds.

Canada: A high school social science unit based on using Internet and Library resources to study the political structure, history and weather of Canada

Cause and Effect: High School juniors study the causes and effects of recent discoveries and developments in modern society by using Internet resources.

Creative Writing in a Global Classroom: Involves the World Classroom Project to assist students in writing about themselves and the world around them.

Earthquake: Students in middle school study the causes of earthquakes and monitor day to day fault line activity in California. They also use gopher to study earthquake safety precautions. Using the Internet they contact students who live in areas frequented by other natural phenomenon such as tornadoes and hurricanes to compare experiences.

Environmental Imaging: Middle school students study the environment by examining local biomes and creating an environmental box. They also study how image processing using NASA images can be used to study environmental problems. Finally, they design their own project to study the environment using image processing technology.

Environmental Studies: A unit involving Special Education students and the study of environmental issues

Flight/Aeronautics: A fourth grade unit based on the historical study of flight and including interaction between aircraft designers and students as they design their own model aircraft

High School Food: High school food services students study the culture of food using data collected from Internet resources and by contacting restaurant and food service professionals via newsgroups.

Genetic Traits/Appreciating Diversity: A study of genetics with a hands-on emphasis. Several activities are included but you must get the Microsoft Word for Macintosh version to take full advantage of them.

Ghost Writer Project: Teams of students from Mendocino collaborate via videoconferencing and e-mail to prodcut mystery scripts with help from a professional screen writer.

Growth Patterns: Middle school students study proportional reasoning and develop strategies and theories about population growth. They use the Internet to obtain population simulation data from sources such as the Census Bureau and population simulation software from the GeoSim project.

Library: Shows two models, one for high school and one for primary grade students, to show how librarians can enhance classroom activities involving Interent searches for resources.

Lilies: Students in California studying Where the Lilies Bloom, a novel set in North Carolina, a partnered with a North Carolina school and exchange personal experiences, study for tests, and write compositions with them. They also use the Internet to explore modern day North Carolina.

Local History: Students in four locations around the United States study a local figure of historical importance. They then share their studies among the four schools and use a common rubric to evaluate the presentations.

Math Magic: Uses the MathMagic mathematical problem exchange to work with fourth graders.

Math Magic2: Similar to the above only using high school mathematics problems.

Science Mastery: Students and their teacher design alternative methods of mastering physics and chemistry concepts using Internet resources and by contacting experts via newsgroups. They collect and analyze their results in a common HTML page accessible via Mosaic for all students who study these concepts.

Special Needs Model: Shows how a hearing impaired student and the IEP team work together to use the Internet to study curriculum and assist the student

Using Listservs in the Social Sciences: A unit based on using listserv discussions to resolve historical discrepancies with sixth and seventh graders

History/Geography of California and other States: Uses exchanges with other classrooms and Internet resources to study history and geography of The United States.

Women: Students in ÒThe Power of WomenÓ, a middle school class, contact successful women in a variety of careers and explore a specific issue affecting women by using the Internet. They then present their findings to the class.
