      <title>Russian Riverkeeper Park - Volunteer Days</title>
      <description><![CDATA[<center>
<h1>Russian Riverkeeper Park</h1><h1>Volunteer Days</h1> <i><h3>Help restore a section of riverside habitat.</h3></i> The Russian Riverkeeper invites river lovers to help restore a chunk of Guerneville riverbank habitat, <br />which is slated to be turned into a public park and demonstration restoration project.<br /><br /> Riverkeeper Don McEnhill has scheduled volunteer workdays every Thursday afternoon, <br />from noon to 4 p.m., weather permitting.<br /><br /> Restoration activities include: erosion control, trail building, <br />invasive plant removal, planting native vegetation and trash pickup.  <br />Please bring gloves and drinking water and wear sturdy shoes.<br /><br />  The site is located on the north bank of the Russia River directly upstream of the pedestrian bridge.<br />Access is down a driveway west of Woody’s River Glass.<br /><br /> Volunteers should look for a blue and white sign that says, <br />“Russian Riverkeeper Demonstration Riparian Restoration Project Future Community Park.”<br /><br /> For more information please call Don McEnhill at 217-4762, <br />ore-mail him at rrkeeper@sonic.net.

Within the past few weeks, a male harbor seal ventured too closeto <b>R1</b>, who responded by chasing and mauling him. The unfortunateharbor seal<i>likely</i> did not survive.<p><font face="Verdana">Another, smaller elephant seal, designated nowas "<b>R2</b>" has been sighted near the estuary.
