This piece is one part of a diptych together with "a walk on Portagee beach." This place reminds me of the elaborate grottos that were built for the Italian Mannerist villas outside of Rome. The sound of the dripping fresh water against the backdrop of the lapping ocean water on the beach beyond creates an auditory world within a world. The smell of salt and seaweed complement the textures of the rocks and driftwood.
