Part II of the diptych with "from
the grotto." Every year the Pacific storms wash piles of
redwood and fir logs up on the beaches around Mendocino. The children
pile the logs into forts and special places while the morning light
reveals the personalities contained within each piece of driftwood.
The weathered knots and cracks become eyes and mouths for those
of us who care to look for them. Can you find the toothless old
alligator?
