All of our containerized, one-gallon roses are priced at $11.00.
Californians must add 7.25% tax. Calculate your shipping costs by referring
to the following information:
After much pondering over the pros and cons of various shipping methods, and
being somewhat daunted by the dilemma of finding a reliable means of
shipment that was also reasonably priced, we finally decided on UPS and have
calibrated our shipping charts to cover the actual costs of that company. We
have added a small handling charge to defray the extra time and expense on
our end. We have found that UPS will sometimes hold packages destined for
remote rural areas until they have a full truck. If you live in such a place
please let us know and we will give you instructions on how to intercept
your packages so that the roses do not sit around waiting for UPS to deliver
them. In general, however, UPS gives the boxes much more careful treatment
than the postal service.
We will only be shipping plants in one-gallon containers. We are
considering shipping plants bare-root in the future, but are still uncertain
about whether we will offer this option. If we do, we will have to add
another significant Handling Charge to defray the expense incurred by the
time-consuming preparation that goes into a bare-root order. We found in the
past that our California dormancy season is ended by February and our roses
are leafing out and budding by April, the time when many customers in colder
climates want to receive their plants. In order to accommodate these many
folks, we have extended our shipping season considerably by sending our
roses in the containers in which they are grown.
We will be making shipments on Mondays and Tuesdays of each week during our
season. This will maximize the chances of delivery within the week the roses
are shipped. Check the Shipment Times chart on the order form to request
delivery during the early, middle, or late part of the month you desire your
plants.
As you can see by the shipping zones and costs
chart, shipping via ground is considerably less expensive than by air.
We have found that containerized plants travel very well by ground, even
during the hotter months. A moist, well-packed rose can stay fresh and
healthy for several days in transit. However, to be on the safe side, we
would recommend that people in Zones 6-8 choose air service. We will
guarantee live delivery of any plant shipped by 3-Day Select at any time
during our regular months of shipping. We will not guarantee plants
shipped to Zones 6-8 by ground in April and May, but suggest that they are
most likely to arrive in fine condition. Ground shipment is a safe option
year-round to locations in California, and we will guarantee live delivery
of roses shipped via ground to all zones from November through March.
We can ship any time you want, if you will take responsibility for the
outcome. Our regular season runs from November to the end of May, thus
excluding the hottest months of the year. We do not recommend shipping
during June, July, August, and September -- nor do we recommend planting
roses during these months in any zone. However, if you must have your roses
during these times we will accommodate you, but will not provide any
guarantees of live delivery. If you decide on delivery during these months,
we strongly suggest 3-Day Select Air.
We will not make substitutions to your order without your express request.
There is a box on the Order Blank where you can indicate alternate choices
if you wish us to replace sold-out varieties of roses. If you do not
indicate alternatives, we will readily refund you for roses that are no
longer available.
