Art 163 RUG & TAPESTRY WEAVING Tues. & Thurs. Afternoons
1pm to 4:55 pm at the Mendocino Art Center Weaving Studio Topics include an investigation of various loom-controlled as well as finger-controlled weaves appropriate to rugs (Tuesday afternoons with Lolli Jacobsen), and an introduction to traditional as well as contemporary tapestry weaving techniques (with Jackie Wollenberg on Thursday afternoons).

Open only to those who have taken Art 62 Weaving twice.
This course is designed for further development of weaving skills.
Individual direction in weaving encouraged.
Art 64 FABRIC PRINTING AND DYEING Mon. & Weds. evenings
6:30 - 9:40 pm Rooms 204 & 205 Art Dept. Fort Bragg Campus
This class is a fast paced comprehensive introduction to many
fabric printing and dyeing processes including fabric painting;
monoprint, block and stencil printing; resists such as tie-dye, clamp
dye, and stitch dye; screen printing; and many other techniques.
Topics also include the characteristics and appropriate use of
fabrics, dyes, and textile paints. Color and design, especially
patterning are also addressed. Fast paced and fun, this class is a
great introduction to surface design on fabric and allows plenty of
room for personal experimentation and individual focus. #011956 $25

LOLLI JACOBSEN was trained as an apprentice weaver and fabric printer in Copenhagen, Denmark. She has a BA in Art from the University of Washington. She has been teaching at the MAC and the College of the Redwoods since 1972 and was founder and director of the MAC's Textile Apprenticeship Program until its retirement in 1991. Lolli's business, Mendocino Textiles Art at the Fort Bragg Fabric Studio, specializes in custom dyeing and screen printing scarves, pillows, yardage and t-shirt, etc. |
