We believe that energy and communications technology must be harnessed to truly human spirit to facilitate our progress into modern societies in tune with our growing ecological wisdom.Our EcoNomics & EcoMotion program is indicative of our commitment to the philosophy and practice of such evolutionary efforts and offers the challenge of creating a new paradigm for social progress through small scale transportation energy management and economics in order to maintain local cultural integrity.
I personally believe that success on this path is essential, probable and achievable in the near future. In transportation, we note a number of light, community vehicles are now on the market using available technology to develop the market place. Advanced propulsion technology, Personal Computer based instrumentation and bicycle scale coach design lead to inexpensive, community scale vehicles like our current ElectriLite (or our 1995 ElectriLite brochure) which will ecologically fill local transportation and economy needs.
Long distance needs will be satisfied by hybrid vehicles and electric bikes and scooters will fill out the recreational, low cost end of the EcoTransport spectrum. Hmm, EcoTrans has a nice ring to it.These advanced technology vehicles will not be boring. In operation their propulsion and suspension systems provide smooth, safe and snappy performance while computer based instrumentation provides operational insights and all the personal computer features possible in a moving vehicle; all at 1/3 to 1/10 of the overall operating costs and environmental insult of equivalent petroleum powered ICE platforms. In addition to this somewhat central theme is support efforts for community scale energy tools such as
solar generation, wind and water generation, electric tractors, and electric water pumping; all important elements in community independence and essential for ecological success.Omni is now at work developing those advanced propulsion systems employing brushless DC, permanent magnet motors in a variety of conventional forms and as hub motors. Several of these designs are ready to be produced for appropriate light EV applications. The instrument panel computer is also in development and requires further effort to ready it for production.
