| Sunlight and
sea, cottages and bright flowers have been Erin Dertner's inspiration since the age of
nine. The challenge to capture that perfect country landscape or that lush cottage garden
continues to evoke the response, "Can't we live there?!" Erin has won awards
in national juried competitions and travels both here and abroad to gain new perspective
and to teach. She began painting in watercolor, but has added both pastels and oils to her
credit and enjoys the diversity and challenge that each medium presents. Her subject
matter ranges from portraits to cottages and coastal vistas, rugged landscapes and
European street scenes.

Born in 1957,
Erin learned much about drawing, composition and watercolor at an early age from her
mother and later from her high school art instructor. She has continued to study and since
1990, has taught her own summer workshops. Her professional career began in 1980 when
the first of her two sons was just 10 months old. Increased demand for her work over the
years has led her to make them more widely available through prints, cards, calendars and
needlework kits. Her husband is also her business partner, and oversees the marketing as
well as the framing of all her works.
"Through my work I can share my own heart's peace and it is to God that I am
grateful for the privilege to invite you to share a quiet, restful moment as you see the
world through my eyes," she says. |
