Marriage and Family
Jim then married his high school sweetheart,
Marilyn Gerlach. Their
wedding occurred
within
three and a half hours of Jim's graduation from the Academy. Their
family consists of four
children -
Jay, Jeffrey, Susan and Barbara. This was a very extraordinary family.
Together, in one form or another, they lived their lives with Jim as
he travelled farther than any other astronaut alive, logging over 600
hours and over 7,000,000 miles flying through space.
