I have lived on the Mendocino Coast for 24 years this spring, and am very glad to be helping my community in such a challenging and fun way. I have worked just about every job there is around here, from Wood Hogg to waiter, and became tired of running as fast as possible just to stay in place. It was time to start doing what I liked to do. My business is computers, and I do just about anything you might need...from installing that new hard disk to figuring out why your mouse and your modem quit, and tutoring too.
It all started in 1986, with an Apple 11c, with no hard drive, and a whopping 128k floppy drive ("How is it possible to fill up a disk?") and 128k of Random Access Memory...then a Macintosh SE, which was a nice jump, but it would not run the software I wanted to learn, AutoCAD.
Right about then, my father decided to computerize his surveying business, and a way to learn the computer trade appeared. We went the IBM clone route, a 386DX-25, with a 66 meg hard drive. We thought it was the fastest thing on the block! We got into Windows only after version 3.1 came out, because the Mac spoiled me, it is the way the GUI interface is supposed to look like, and 3.0 wasn't it. I have been learning Windows 3.1,WINFW 3.11, Win95, and Windows NT4.0 ever since, about 12 years now.
Modems got me started on BBS's and CompuServe, mostly just to cruise around, but more and more for information regarding computer ailments, and that is how I got going fixing PC troubles. I became hooked up with the Mendocino Community Network in July of 1994, and have been having a blast on the Net, especially on the World Wide Web (WWW). The cable TV situation being what it is, I shut it off, and I get all my news and weather off the Web.
I can build a computer for you, or steer you to a good dealer. I install all the parts you could possibly stick in there, and can repair or replace most common computer failures, or direct you to who can, reliably.
I can tune your Windows or DOS computer to perform the way it is meant to.
