There will be two cob/natural building courses this year (2005).
Both are bathhouses. :)

The first, May 23rd to 27th will be a one week basics of cob course at the Heartwood complex in Garberville, CA. In partnership with Island Mountain Institute, a sustainable agriculture and permaculture organization. Our main focus is towards progress and completion of the bathhouse project begun late last year. We will also study the first modern cob building in California, created with the help of Cob Cottage Co.
The new building uses cob, round pole construction, light straw and an
innovative strawbale construction technique.
Cost is $250 for the workshop and $250 for accommodations. This fee provides for use of Heartwood's facilities, which include a hot tub, sauna and swimming pool, camping space and three delicious, organic, vegetarian meals daily.

The second building course, July 18th to 29th will be an intensive two week cob session. We will focus on a bathhouse near Point Arena, Ca. We will study cob construction from the ground up. This project revolves around hot water, we will give great attention to building a bathtub with firebox (keep hot long time), and a
unique rocket stove/solar hot water system.
There will be extensive discussion and practicals on fire technologies.

The package includes camping space, three meals daily, plenty of air and sunshine, and a damn fine community. We Have the pleasure to announce that meals will be created by the esteemed R.L. Toothfaerie. Toothfaerie is a fine chef with many years of experience prepairing fine unconventional organic foods. Toothfaerie's dishes are truly delightful and unique. The food alone is worth the price of admission!
Cost for this workshop is $900. Please register before June 12.
