Jug Handle Trail: Location 28

The leaf of this shrub, Labrador tea, has an aromatic fragrance. Like several other pygmy forest plants - rhododendron, manzanita, and huckleberry, all members of the this family - its roots secrete acid that adds to the acidity of the soil.
