Every open season at Mendocino District State Parks there are interpreters available for Parks programs and hikes. They are a bright and qualified bunch, usually students of nature wanting to share what they know with the public. They create their own schedule of events, and add a unique flavor of intrepretation. Some of our parks have permanent interpretive panels occuring along trails such as Jug Handle Ecological Staircase Trail and Van Dammes Fern Canyon Trail. Our main parks: Russian Gulch SP, Van Damme SP, Mackerricher SP and Hendy Woods SP generally bring on interpreters in the Spring. At this time the only interpretive schedule available is Mackerricher State Park ;it is as follows:
Interpretive Schedule for Mackerricher State Park
All interpretive programs are FREE to the public (donations warmly accepted), and provided by California State Parks, and the Mendocino Area Parks Association.
